Range Rover Sport

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport is a luxury sport utility vehicle manufactured by Jaguar Land Rover which was the first generation Range Rover which was codenamed ‘L320’ and production of the Sport commenced in 2005.

Production of the first generation of Range Rover Sport SUV’s ceased in 2012 and the following year replaced by the second generation of the Range Rover Sport models and these were labeled with the codename ‘L494’ which were launched on 27 March 2013 at the New York Auto Show.

If own a Range Rover Sport V8 and you venture out to off-road terrain and ever so often put your 5.0 litre, supercharged, 510 horsepower, 8-speed SUV around your local race track on a track day, together with five passengers in luxurious comfort, then you know how much a V8 Sport can make life so exhilarating.

The Sport is also fitted with two-channel Dynamic Response suspension system which works with the upgraded air springs and variable dampers to help it corner faster with fully adjustable four-wheel-drive. While accelerating hard the exhaust system works its magic through a dual stage active exhaust system with electronically controlled valves which enables the exhaust gass to flow through all four exhaust pipes.

The Range Rover Sport also features All-Terrain-Response 2 Technology that helps optimize settings for the immediate condition, on-road and off-road.

The petrol powered Sport Supercharged V8 has a maximum speed of 250km/h and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds. The eight cylinder engine powered SUV can get thirsty when you drive it hard and therefore requires a large fuel tank which holds 105 litres of fuel.

Unlike the original and current Discovery models, the Range Rover Sport ‘L494’ does not have a high tensile steel chassis rails  but was designed and based on the new alloy platform made up of high grade extruded aircraft alloy, named the D7u Platform. The ‘L494’ is 400 kg lighter than all previous generations of Range Rovers and is therefore a huge benefit to the model in the performance, due to its weight reduction.

When you weigh up all the extras and compare the Sport models to any other SUV out there, you soon realize that the Range Rover Sport SUV's are hard to beat, which makes them
the biggest selling vehicles of all the Land Rover motor vehicles ever produced to date.
